Peebs Net Community Watch.

From time to time on this blog im going to also be doing something i have chosen to name Peebs Net Community Watch. It relates to doing a type of study of this community forum here http://peebs.net/Community/index.php which is a forum for ex exclusive brethren members and the general public ,to discuss matters of the exclusive brethren , matters of faith or non faith , and matters of life in general from the point of view of ex members of the exclusive brethren.

I used to be a member of this site myself and participated there in discussions and debates that took place from time to time on the forums ,which at that time were both public and member only forums. However this has now had to change due to court action by the exclusive brethren and  quote :”The Private Forums have been closed pursuant to the terms of a confidential settlement agreement” .. See here http://peebs.net/Community/viewtopic.php?f=80&t=11367

As ive already stated i used to be a member of this site and was involved in participating in discussions and debates within different threads upon this forum .But after a while there came a time when i chose of my own accord to simply cease signing in to make use of my membership, and since that day to be honest i havent even tried to sign in again as i have decided being inside this group just isn’t me.

Let me try to further explain what i mean about this. In my opinion even being a member of this group to me seemed it was still rather an awful lot like still being a member of the exclusive brethren or a domineering religiously orientated/controlled church.Yes it was suggested/stated that the site was also created for the use of not only the faithful but also the unfaithful which naturally then included the right of atheists and agnostics etc  to post and discuss and debate matters which they felt like discussing.

And yes this did happen quite often and yes i did even participate quite often also. But let me suggest to me there does seem to be one hell of a very big difference! between being advised the forum is for both faithful and unfaithful who should feel free to discuss matters they feel they would like to discuss .And HONESTLY getting the feeling its the case that others there on the forum have any honest respect for this right that was actually designed and developed in hope of covering the needs of both the faithful and the unfaithful.

So without further a due let me first state this before i say anymore, i personally have absolutely no doubt that the folks that designed and developed the site, were absolutely honest in their kind and generous thoughtful intentions, of providing a forum that could hopefully cater for all folks of ex exclusive brethren descent, whether they still now happened to be either the faithful or the unfaithful type.

But alas .I suggest it now seems to me that wherever and whenever religion and faith is involved in matters , it just can’t help itself from trying to seek someway to manipulate and censor and control matters. Indeed whether it be by way of use of general rules or regulation, or by way of very subtle application of shunning or dissociation/excommunication psychological warfare. It seems followers of faith just can’t resist trying to rule and gain some sort of upper hand.It seems they cannot even bear the thought there still could actually be a possibility their faith might be misguided and wrong. It seems, even that anyone could even dare question! these faiths, to these faithful folks it seems is rather like maybe declaring a personal hatred also exists, or some dislike that is being presented as a first warning shot across the bow of the good fine ship “faith”, before the final onset of  an outright war with no intention of discussion .No to the faithful deep in such faithful thought, this could only ever be an out-and-out purposeful move designed to thoughtlessly destruct and destroy at will absolutely without any actual concern of any others at all.

And so after participating for a while as a member, i decided it was just best for my own personal health, and also as a way to help me refrain!  from daring to use the rights given to me as a member being fully able to post, in effect disturbing some of the wonderful thoughtful faithful folks right to their faith bliss of not needing to face quite so many opposing views .Well it just seemed best idea left available that i simply choose to leave, because to me it soon became very obvious not a lot would likely change in any hurry.

I personally felt it much better idea for me, that if i ever decided i wanted to observe or even post, it would be best i do it as a guest observer/poster .Which i actually have done!  and is an experience i fully intend on sharing with you later further on in this issue of my Peebs Net Community watch project.

But i first want to further explain some more about my personal reasons for removing myself as a member of this forum. It basically amounts to this many of these ex ebs there on that site will so publically say they do dislike and abhor the manipulative extremely bossy and tyrannical type tactics of the exclusive brethren. But during my time amongst these ex ebs i started wondering? just how much many of them really could honestly claim they were actually so very different to those exclusive brethren whom they now so publically opposed. And from this very observation i then started to form an opinion of mine which i now still happen to hold, that in actual fact the real problem with all these faith-based problems, is actually centred deep within the very disastrous epicentre of the age-old idea of faith itself .

I personally doubt this problem has ever really changed much since humans first started following all the many differing paths of faiths.I feel quite sure faith folks who once believed in a need for blood sacrifice of humans or animals ,would have still felt just as indignantly abused and downtrodden ,should any nasty thoughtless soul dare question or be seen to seem to oppose their genuine faith in such wonder and spiritual bliss . Ooh the persecution .Ooh what great suffering and sacrifice one must make! , in keeping up the “good work” and upholding ones right to believe. 🙂

Opposers = pipeline of filth 🙂  Pipeline of filth is actually an Exclusive Brethren type term used to explain how they would see something like the site Peebs Net …. Its  a eb slang word cult speech way of kind of describing it as supposedly being all lies . .. So in effect unfaithful words coming from the thoughts of an atheist or agnostic,  even to an Ex Exclusive Brethren member, could be said might also be seen as being lots like this pipeline of filth . 🙂

So you know …What im really trying to get at here and explain, is who then is actually involved in censoring who ? .. Sure i admit there was no court case, i as one of those damn pesky opposing, question asking , agnostic/atheists always discussing matters the faithful don’t really like, myself simply up and chose to leave the membership of my own free accord, just as many Ex Exclusive Brethren simply chose to leave the Exclusive Brethren themselves also….But still i did so because of having some of the very same type of feelings ! of experiencing the same type tactics of manipulation , shunning, a sense that many faithful there still possessed the very same type of  overbearing faithful need to control and censor what was and wasnt allowable to be thought about and discussed . And im suggesting this nearly has about as much connection to EBism as it does to all faith in general .Even if EBism just so happens to go and amplify it all a little. The fact still remains the real problem is actually more so (connected) to religion and faith in general.

Not sure if ive managed to explain myself and my thoughts very well, we EBs sometimes didn’t manage to learn so well back at school. If anyone don’t understand, please just make a remark and/or ask a question.

I think next i will just start a whole new post again on the subject of Peebs Net Community Watch .This post is already hit well above 1264 word count.

About ExEB

I'm a agnostic/atheist . Interested in learning more about science. I also am an "ex-member" of a group most publicly known within modern times, as the Exclusive Brethren. Whom are an off-shoot of the original Plymouth Brethren group. I'd say it likely my personality could possibly be described as quirky. You know ,as in being , unconventional , unorthodox , unusual, off-centre, strange, bizarre, weird, peculiar, odd, freakish, outlandish, offbeat, out of the ordinary, bohemian, alternative, zany I'm sure iv'e been classed as "crazy" . Many times But then, being born into a group like the exclusive brethren. Doesn't lend itself ? to tend to produce things considered as being "very normal" .Does it I escaped the Exclusive Brethren cult as a 15 year old teenager. Even since that time iv'e been trying to adjust to living life outside the cult. With much of my life being lived within the genre of "wild colonial boy" style. In the general sense of a church-rebel picking and choosing from role models who appeared within-life along the way. But as the exclusive brethren cult had traditionally maintained a general church-rule , of need to shun and totally excommunicate any ex member of their group.Treating such people as if they were dead. Thus this situation developed more to do with my need of following traditionally enforced church-rule , as apposed to it being so much about "life-choices". Certain emotional experiences, and parts of life in general, have led to me adopting a sense of low self esteem. Which is a situation i still deal with from time to time. Through my ongoing interest in science. I find i am able to gather more information to help me better understand my situation. Much about life for me, has often seemed like a massive puzzle. With many missing pieces.

The expression “Pipeline of filth” was created ‘way back in the 1950’s as it referred to the simple radio. I distinctly remember SMcC arguing this point in those days, when someone asked him about the good educational stuff that could be found on the radio, such as the news etc.. His reply was “90% of the water in a sewer is pure, only 10% was foul, but who wants a sewer running through their house?”

The expression was extended to refer to the internet because through the internet, porn movies could be sourced – all being creatures of of the Devil who controlled the airwaves.

Very interesting George thanks for the information about how that expression actually got started in the first place, i never properly knew how it had.Strangely though they still happened to keep their toilets, even if the 10% was impure.Guess just because you have a toilet doesnt mean you going to let it run wherever it wants, proving that just because there is some bad things about something doesnt mean you need to get totally rid of it .Yes humans have this free will, but also have use of some self control too. They just got stuck in the rut of thinking they could totally remove themselves from being in the presence of all things they considdered evil, and while on the subject of sewers i guess this type of stupidity of total removal from things, really showed when they sometimes even made their members add new sewer pipes that didnt connect to the neighbours sewer pipe.Their effluent was still bound to come in contact with the neighbours effluent sooner or later, what did it matter whether it was half way down a shared driveway or right down at the road. In any real honesty there was little difference.

Simply banning so many things was rather stupid wasnt it.Specially with things like computers which were also very useful, and would later need to become unbanned. And with regards to my above post and the attitude of many christians i experienced on Peebs Net who obviously dont really like ever even hearing the non believers point of view, im left asking myself what does it really matter if you hear these matters discussed on a internet site like peebs net, or later on elsewhere?.

Thinking maybe they can put your head in the sand and not ever need to see or hear something, wont ever serve to honestly make the matter totally disappear. What ever happens when maybe they happen meet a atheist discussing non belief of Gods, on a bus or a train or even a aeroplane , do they have to quick jump off ?. How pathetic and utterly stupid .

The Exclusive Brethren might do their best to silence people by taking them to court and closing down one members only forum, but elsewhere another one will pop up and start discussing these things they feel need some discussion. Just as who ever is moderating comments posted by atheist guest posters on Peebs Net at present, might be able to censor comments i tried making . But that wont stop me creating my own blog and re posting these censored comments back here on my blog, and discussing these matters some further here.

Faithful folks everywhere ! need to start to try to learn they do happen to “share this world” with non faithful folks too !. And unless their wish really is to try to create more people with tendencys like Stalin, who in the end turned on faithful folks ! and started trying to be censoring them instead . Maybe some faithful folk might be best served learning how to allow non believers some of the same type of “freedom” and “rights” to their personal thoughts and beliefs also.Rights and freedoms that these faithful folks themselves wouldnt really enjoy having had removed.

My point is, at present i dont really think the biggotry just stops at the gates of the Exclusive Brethren .

I agree with you about the absurdity of a poxy hole in the ground being separate from their neighbours until it reaches the public sewer. I was told recently the separate private sewers were a “symbol of separation” – even though that symbol was never witnessed by anyone else. Yet they are happy to have a very visible symbol of connection to all their neighbours by using a common telegraph poles from which to string their telephone wires. I’ve seen this for myself – and the neighbours were not all Exclusives – judging by the amount of satellite dishes and TV aerials they had attached to their homes.

I could never get my head round this.

As a secularist myself, I will enjoy following your comments with interest. You are correct that bigotry does not start and end with the Exclusive Brethren – there are hundreds of smaller cults around the world that may even have only one single meeting room, but they are identical in methods of extraction 10% of earnings and being obedient to the will of the leader.

      • ExEB says:

Thanks again George. To be quite honest these days more and more i do have some trouble trying to really figure out just where the cult part begins or even ends. They all seem to be a type of cult to some extent, and often dont seem to like any outsiders having any freedom or right to be questioning things they do.

  2. Goddess says:

Is ‘faith’ a religion, a feeling, a belief, a human chemical, a biological organism, part of our DNA, or something that is attached to religion, or a personal feeling we attribute to ourselves to cope with life or ?????? Be interested in your thoughts my friend. xx

    • ExEB says:

Hi Goddess thanks for your comment.Im far from being any expert on the subject, and im not even sure any experts even think they have all the reasons worked out yet themselves. But in my opinion if you look into how obviously religions evolved over time from rituals that maybe first might have involved human or animal sacrifice, onward to rituals of worship and other doctrine .Id say human feelings and trialing and testing of different beliefs surely must have something to do with it , i suggest this part is what displays the human nature of matters of faith. Faith can be seen in this light to have evolved in much the same type of way we also went from horse and cart, onwards to motor cars etc . And if it was a matter of evolving out of anything of the supernaturally devine nature , personally i cant see any real good reason why we would have likely had need to have started back at such things as human sacrifice .If there was actually any direct devine message being passed to man from a supreme being, then i cant see why humans never started with something a little closer to the rolls royce model, rather than messing around for so many years with a jalopy.Id say it was about trying to understand and cope with many things about life that early humans without modern knowledge and science ,had no real way to fully understand . Matters that seemed of such great importance to them it wouldnt have really seemed wise to wait for real answers to arrive, so they had no other way but to try guessing and use a type of scientific method by way of the simple trial and error process, to try to see what maybe might or might not work.Imagine yourself being ancient man and trying to decide just how come your friend gets hit by a lightning bolt that seems to have been thrown from behind the clouds with such pin point accuracy, while quietly pondering over what you had experienced would it not have maybe crossed your mind, that just maybe something supernatural exists behind those clouds that might be angry or be dishing out some sort of punishment, for not being repaid with some sort of respect or worship it might have expected. Even today fear and phobia still have a way of making humans think and do many very strange and sometimes irrational things.
And then you mention whether it might be connected to “human chemical” or “biological” or part of our “DNA” etc. I wonder if maybe it is also connect to us humans in some way to this effect , a inbuilt existing instinct of some type. Not unlike the fact many humans seem to have a inbuilt fear of the dark. Many years ago a natural instinct to be afraid of the dark would likely have been a very wise fear to possess that aided those who had it greatly with survival, living outdoors away from safety of more modern civilizations that we have now , quite possibly many sharp teeth of other hungry beings lay in wait in the dark.Ever ready to grab you,and without torches to shine light out so humans could see what was making their friends start to scream. Naturally all sorts of storys of monsters and demons would have emerged from these situations they experienced but had no better way of understanding .Sure sometimes in the morning they might find some evidence of animal footprints which would then tend to calm some nerves , but other times they would have been left to guess matters, like life was like trying to put together a big jig saw puzzle with many missing pieces.

Its all really a part of one big jig saw puzzle humans are still working on trying to piece together properly today isnt it Goddess. And we have got many pieces fitted in the wrong places plenty of times already, and often to our great detriment, specially when considdering matters such as human blood that was once shed in ancient trials of the benefit or non benefit of the practice of human sacrifice .Im certainly no expert i certainly dont know the answers, but one thing i cant see is that there is any real need for us to keep trying to guess and poke pieces in where they maybe might not even fit 🙂 .

      What do you think.
