Obama administration should promote international religious freedom

Quote :

“WASHINGTON, December 8, 2013 —  The Obama administration should take greater steps to promote religious freedom internationally.

In First Things magazine, Thomas Farr notes the importance of religious freedom in American efforts abroad. “Religious freedom plays a necessary role in the consolidation of democracy, in economic development, and in social harmony,” he says. Religious freedom leads to respect for dissenting views of all kinds, allowing a freer exchange of ideas and a more peaceful transition of power.

Yet Farr argues that religious freedom has barely been incorporated into international discussions due to the current administration’s lack of conviction. Though the procedures have been in place since the International Religious Freedom Act was passed in 1998, the actual execution has been weak. Diplomats are not trained in the importance of religious freedom, and there is no comprehensive foreign policy to advance the goals set out in the law.

Giving minor lip-service to religious freedom may fool some, but it doesn’t actually accomplish the goal of change in foreign nations. Additionally, religious freedom must be advocated for people of all religions. It is an inherent right, not a political tool. “

Yes indeed. Giving minor lip-service to religious freedom may fool some, but it doesn’t actually accomplish the goal of change

So true

The only reason cults like the Exclusive Brethren can even find room to exist. Is because Christians gave minor lip-service to our need of religious freedom.

For they have allowed these forms of religious tyranny to form and take hold , having right to dominate and rule over us .Groups like the Exclusive Brethren (busy re marketing themselves as “Plymouth Brethren” lately) . The Westboro Baptists . The Jehovah’s Witnesses . The Word of Faith Fellowship . And many others whom all retain the right to “dominate” over what people may choose to believe.

They have freedom to use and enforce , forms of punishment. By inciting members to separate and shun , any people whom don’t agree to bow-down under this religious-tyranny . Thus imposing fear, in the form of psychological torture (Even Hitler used separation of family members ,as a form of psychological torture)

We do agree . That . “The Obama administration should take greater steps to promote religious freedom internationally.”

“Giving minor lip-service to religious freedom may fool some, but it doesn’t actually accomplish the goal of change “

Faithful people on sites , like the wikipedia site http://wikipeebia.com/forums/index.php?sid=0bd478ccf5ccd03f7851234bed710b5b

Busily get angry at the Exclusive Brethren . As if its the Exclusive Brethren, whom rule over the world ?. As if Exclusive Brethren might have been the first to invent and allow, right of religious tyranny.

Cant help wondering if the direction they choose to focus this anger. Is misdirected.

When Christian’s worldwide , even those within mainstream Christianity. Have all been those whom also allowed and even upheld room for all this religious tyranny to exist within this world

Break down the Wall

About ExEB

I'm a agnostic/atheist . Interested in learning more about science. I also am an "ex-member" of a group most publicly known within modern times, as the Exclusive Brethren. Whom are an off-shoot of the original Plymouth Brethren group. I'd say it likely my personality could possibly be described as quirky. You know ,as in being , unconventional , unorthodox , unusual, off-centre, strange, bizarre, weird, peculiar, odd, freakish, outlandish, offbeat, out of the ordinary, bohemian, alternative, zany I'm sure iv'e been classed as "crazy" . Many times But then, being born into a group like the exclusive brethren. Doesn't lend itself ? to tend to produce things considered as being "very normal" .Does it I escaped the Exclusive Brethren cult as a 15 year old teenager. Even since that time iv'e been trying to adjust to living life outside the cult. With much of my life being lived within the genre of "wild colonial boy" style. In the general sense of a church-rebel picking and choosing from role models who appeared within-life along the way. But as the exclusive brethren cult had traditionally maintained a general church-rule , of need to shun and totally excommunicate any ex member of their group.Treating such people as if they were dead. Thus this situation developed more to do with my need of following traditionally enforced church-rule , as apposed to it being so much about "life-choices". Certain emotional experiences, and parts of life in general, have led to me adopting a sense of low self esteem. Which is a situation i still deal with from time to time. Through my ongoing interest in science. I find i am able to gather more information to help me better understand my situation. Much about life for me, has often seemed like a massive puzzle. With many missing pieces.
