Will we continue to bite our tongues as Christians continue to be attacked?

Asks, Bob Rinearson for The News-Sentinel Friday, May 23, 2014 – 12:01 am

He goes on to say

Quote :

When Islamic radicals beat and then murdered the Rev. Francis Van Der Lugt in front of his monastery in April, you had to look hard through the mainstream media outlets to find any mention of the brutality.

I don’t recall it being a lead story on the prime-time news networks. I didn’t hear the Rev. All Sharpton, Diane Sawyer or Oprah Winfrey offer their indignity at such an atrocity. It certainly didn’t get the attention Donald Sterling got when he told his girlfriend not to bring her black friends to a basketball game.

It’s a shame.Van Der Lugt was the type of devoted Christian that no media type seems to want to mention when they air the most recent stories of how brave ACLU lawyers are working overtime to eradicate prayer from the public arena. He was a Jesuit priest who in 1966 had founded a home in Syria for both children and adults who had mental disabilities. Even as the civil war broke out and the Syrian government was committing unthinkable atrocities against its own people, Van Der Lugt felt his calling to serve the Syrian people was more important than to run away. To remain silent is so much easier I guess.” http://www.news-sentinel.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20140523/EDITORIAL/140529876/1021

We have to wonder, if perhaps Bob Rinearson  may have finally came back down to earth, in the last shower?? of rain. Or something

It’s almost like someone like Bob, must tend to think, it really is something rather unusual, that people don’t care to take action, in regard to faith abuses.

Doesn’t Bob get it. That it’s actually become very normal. Because Christian groups have been involved in a whole spectrum of ongoing faith abuses too. For many generations. And very few Christians seem to care

And in fact, even  if anyone dares to try and start addressing these sorts of issues. More likely than not , far more Christians will be likely to take action in coming out to oppose it

Like had happened here (for one instance) http://www.christian.org.uk/news/charity-commission-u-turns-over-exclusive-brethren-case/

Quote :

“Colin Hart, Director of The Christian Institute, also welcomed the news: “It’s a victory for religious freedom.

“Common sense has been restored and the decision reflects what we knew all along, that the Charity Commission never had the power to direct how a church administers Holy Communion”.”

end quote

Trouble is .What Colin Hart says ,seems at least a little misleading in the very least.  Because the charity commission was most concerned as to whether the Exclusive Brethren (who just lately, are also busy trying extra hard to “pass themselves off”,as being known as the Plymouth Brethren) actually meet the criteria of being of public benefit.

Which the Christian institute also didn’t even bother to mention

Because the Exclusive Brethren have been involved in faith abuses , that have caused ongoing harm to so many. For many years now. Even to the extent of suicides being caused (read about the suicides here http://wikipeebia.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=14 )

What did ? people like Bob Rinearson, ever care to say about these sorts of faith abuse issues. Did ? Bob Rinearson care to bother taking any action in regards to these issues

No. Of course not

Bob needs to learn to accept. That Christians worldwide ,are just as guilty as anyone else is , when it comes to speaking up ,and caring to take action. To see that faith abuse, would stop happening

Where is ? the concern from people like Bob been. For the last 50 years, while the Exclusive Brethren have been busy ripping apart many families.Destroying marriages. Ruining relationships between parents and their children .And so on

Did we ever see? Bob posting any articles about these kind of faith abuses

No …. Most likely never !

Almost seems like these kind of people, only ever start to bleat, whenever they see how it involves some Muslim radicals . Christian abuses get let-off Scott free

This is how much bigotry exists within religion

Bob says

Quote:

Again, George’s murder barely caused a ripple.”

end quote

No kidding .Guess what Bob. Loads of suicides ,caused by an abusive bunch of Christians, known as the Exclusive Brethren church . Have hardly caused a ripple either

Go figure !

Christianity has helped form a society, that now doesn’t tend to even seem to give two hoots , if some other folk are really hurting . Just so long as it isn’t themselves that is personally involved in being harmed

So

What better? do you really expect Bob … A freaking miracle or something ??

Bob says

Quote:

Silence can be deafening”

end quote

Too true Bob……We do agree !

Perhaps some more people may need to quickly learn how to get a little more real about matters.Stop living within their faithful fairy tale land

Get up off your knees.Perhaps piss on your holy books.Forget praying to some non-existent God ,to come fix matters, for you .

And hurry up and start taking action yourself

Because too many folks pray to their non existent God ,to help fix these issues for them.

And this is exactly why these issues do still remain

If God doesn’t exist. Then how the hell can? things ever be fixed by prayer

We live in a world brimming full of so many faithfully deluded folk.

Why would? anyone be stupid enough. To dare to have such high expectations of other (for instance the Islamist) people’s standards.High standards of which many Christians cannot even seem to care-enough to manage to achieve themselves, either.

Because the fact is that, Christian worldwide are also guilty of standing by in silence, while certain degrees of Christian(perpetrated) faith abuses, are also being allowed to continue happening

Perhaps it might be time? that Christians got on with leading by good example.

The Exclusive Brethren “type” cults, may not actually ever be involved in killing (murder) people. That’s true.

But they choose to keep their victim’s alive. They choose to use a form of torture (shunning and excommunication) .Which then works by the method of tyranny of slowly killing-off an ex members spirit/well being

Its debatable whether murder may cause people far less damage and pain.Modern science studies tend to suggest torment/torture is something considered as being far worse than death. In fact methods of torture are even banned,in regards to being considered acceptable practice for use within wars.

And yet.Religious groups have been allocated full freedom, to choose to continue to mistreat people in extreme ways.

{Update}

This is a comment, taken from the comment section, at the bottom of the News-Sentinel article

quote :

“Charles (Report abuse)

Well, cornfinger, its nice to know that , apparently in your opinion, if there were no religion, people would never ever kill each other.

What you are railing against is not religion, but the perversion of religion. You would throw the baby out with the bath water. Much of what is good and decent in this world is the direct result of the influence of religion. Tragically, when misguided zealots take over, you get the kind of atrocities you refer to. It is hopelessly naive on your part to think that would improve in the absence of all religion. “

end quote (my bold)

This persons comment seems to imply that tribes of people, like the Pirahã people. Must somehow being lacking much in certain things considered as being “good” and “decent”

This is the sort of bigotry that religion provides us with, within our societies.People whom consider society to be at some great loss, if without belief in God.

Tribes like the Pirahã people. Live happy lives .They retain love for family and friends. They have all they have need of ,to survive, and to live happy contented lives. Their children are left with knowledge and good memories.Any children who’s family may have succumbed to disease or injury or something else, can rest in the assurance that they will still retain the love and care,of the tribe

1.They may sometime have disputes that arise. But yet this factor of life doesn’t ever disappear, when religion is introduced . In fact ,more often these disputes will tend to increase when religion is introduced

2.They may still have some trouble with theft. They may still have some trouble with breakdown of relationships. They may still have troubles that arise with the need to share and care. And so on

But the point is this.

None of these problems are ever fixed by religion, anyway.Nothing religion does, ever changes these matters. These factors of life, still continue to remain as a factor of life. With or without religion

So then what? great benefit is religion, to humans

But the bigoted mind of a person believing in God.Cannot bring themselves to even consider the idea that their religion might in fact not be even half as helpful,as they will like to believe it is

About ExEB

I'm a agnostic/atheist . Interested in learning more about science. I also am an "ex-member" of a group most publicly known within modern times, as the Exclusive Brethren. Whom are an off-shoot of the original Plymouth Brethren group. I'd say it likely my personality could possibly be described as quirky. You know ,as in being , unconventional , unorthodox , unusual, off-centre, strange, bizarre, weird, peculiar, odd, freakish, outlandish, offbeat, out of the ordinary, bohemian, alternative, zany I'm sure iv'e been classed as "crazy" . Many times But then, being born into a group like the exclusive brethren. Doesn't lend itself ? to tend to produce things considered as being "very normal" .Does it I escaped the Exclusive Brethren cult as a 15 year old teenager. Even since that time iv'e been trying to adjust to living life outside the cult. With much of my life being lived within the genre of "wild colonial boy" style. In the general sense of a church-rebel picking and choosing from role models who appeared within-life along the way. But as the exclusive brethren cult had traditionally maintained a general church-rule , of need to shun and totally excommunicate any ex member of their group.Treating such people as if they were dead. Thus this situation developed more to do with my need of following traditionally enforced church-rule , as apposed to it being so much about "life-choices". Certain emotional experiences, and parts of life in general, have led to me adopting a sense of low self esteem. Which is a situation i still deal with from time to time. Through my ongoing interest in science. I find i am able to gather more information to help me better understand my situation. Much about life for me, has often seemed like a massive puzzle. With many missing pieces.
