There could be as many as 1000 cults in the UK

We Spoke To A Man Who Escaped A Cult To Find Out How They Work

If I were to say the word ‘cult’ to you, what would you think of? ‘Don’t drink the Kool-Aid’, chanting and the Manson family, perhaps? I think that’s all the stereotypes covered, isn’t it?

But it isn’t all suicide pacts and tambourines. Cults can take loads of different forms; they could look like self-help or community groups, they could be posing as charity or yoga clubs, or, of course, they could be among the more well-known ‘religious group’ types, too.

Cult expert Ian Howarth reckons there could be as many as 1000 cults in the UK, and the types of people they target probably aren’t so different to you or me.

Ian, who runs the Cult Information Centre, tells LADbible: “The types of people who are often recruited aren’t the frail and vulnerable. This is a myth. People want to think cults can only pick up vulnerable and weak people, but in reality, the more ‘together’ people are, the easier they can be recruited. They want intelligent and well-educated people. The easiest people to recruit are those who have quick minds and inquisitive natures. The ‘healthier’ the mind, the quicker you can be recruited.

end quote

Evidently.”Freedom of religion /religious liberty”

Kind of somewhat similar, to situations like this IE :

1.believing murder is connected to humans right for freedom/liberty of life

2. believing cults is connected to human right for freedom/liberty of religion

Ask yourself. And please do try to do so honestly. Whats so very different “between to two” situation i listed above?

Best people can come up with. Is religion some how gets automatically issued with some sort of “special status”

Little wonder some peoples lives then get adversely effected in extreme manner?

Life’s like entering into a lottery (most get lucky, while other’s wont)

Hey.Few people ever care about that. Unless via their birthright, it also means they are one of the people who’s lives unluckily happen to become directly-entwined in this harm themselves too

Most people see no reason for themselves ,to need to give a damn?

Wonderful world huh …an evidently … Britain= Christian nation

Some highly regarded Christian folk had (for reason i,personally, fail to understand) still seemed mighty keen to lay that claim ?

About ExEB

I'm a agnostic/atheist . Interested in learning more about science. I also am an "ex-member" of a group most publicly known within modern times, as the Exclusive Brethren. Whom are an off-shoot of the original Plymouth Brethren group. I'd say it likely my personality could possibly be described as quirky. You know ,as in being , unconventional , unorthodox , unusual, off-centre, strange, bizarre, weird, peculiar, odd, freakish, outlandish, offbeat, out of the ordinary, bohemian, alternative, zany I'm sure iv'e been classed as "crazy" . Many times But then, being born into a group like the exclusive brethren. Doesn't lend itself ? to tend to produce things considered as being "very normal" .Does it I escaped the Exclusive Brethren cult as a 15 year old teenager. Even since that time iv'e been trying to adjust to living life outside the cult. With much of my life being lived within the genre of "wild colonial boy" style. In the general sense of a church-rebel picking and choosing from role models who appeared within-life along the way. But as the exclusive brethren cult had traditionally maintained a general church-rule , of need to shun and totally excommunicate any ex member of their group.Treating such people as if they were dead. Thus this situation developed more to do with my need of following traditionally enforced church-rule , as apposed to it being so much about "life-choices". Certain emotional experiences, and parts of life in general, have led to me adopting a sense of low self esteem. Which is a situation i still deal with from time to time. Through my ongoing interest in science. I find i am able to gather more information to help me better understand my situation. Much about life for me, has often seemed like a massive puzzle. With many missing pieces.
